China has imposed a ban on the import of sheep, goats, poultry, and even-toed ungulates from several African, Asian, and European countries due to outbreaks of livestock diseases, including sheep pox, goat pox, and foot-and-mouth disease. The restrictions, covering both processed and unprocessed products, were prompted by World Health Organization (WHO) reports of outbreaks in several nations. This policy, announced by China's General Administration of Customs this month, targets imports from Ghana, Somalia, Qatar, Congo (DRC), Nigeria, Tanzania, Egypt, Bulgaria, East Timor, and Eritrea. Additionally, Beijing has suspended the arrival of sheep, goats, and related products from Palestine, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh due to sheep pox and goat pox worries. Imports of even-toed ungulates and associated products from Germany have also been paused following a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak.
