Denmark’s economy expanded by 0.9% on quarter in the third quarter of 2024, softer than preliminary estimates of 1.2%, easing from an upwardly revised 1.2% growth in the previous period, due to a slowdown in the industry's sales of goods. It was the second consecutive quarter of expansion, boosted mainly by the pharmaceutical industry. On the expenditure side, fixed investments slowed (1.0% vs 1.9% in Q2), particularly in housing (1.8% vs 4.2%), other construction and facilities (1.2% vs 3.2%), and a decline in intellectual rights (-0.8% vs 0.3%). At the same time, net external demand contributed positively to the GDP, as exports grew 0.8% while imports dropped 0.2%. Meanwhile, both household consumption (0.1% vs -0.2% in Q2) and government spending (0.4% vs -0.1%) rebounded. On an annual basis, the GDP grew 3.1% in Q3, slowing from a 3.4% gain in the preceding quarter.
