The Kazakhstan Services PMI dropped to 49.0 in October 2024 from 51.1 in September, indicating a return to contraction following a brief expansion. The decline was driven by weakened demand, as new business faced challenges from increased competition and reduced customer activity. Consequently, business activity also saw a downturn, reversing previous significant gains. Meanwhile, employment continued to grow, albeit at a slower pace, marking the second consecutive month of modest job creation. On the price front, cost pressures eased significantly, with input prices rising at one of the lowest rates recorded since March 2019, largely due to stable utility costs. This allowed service providers to increase their charges at a minimal rate. Looking forward, optimism remains slightly elevated, as firms anticipate securing new contracts and ramping up marketing efforts despite recent demand fluctuations.
