Chancellor Olaf Scholz appointed a new finance minister yesterday after dismissing the previous one, effectively ending the ruling coalition and increasing pressure on the Chancellor to call a snap election. At the same time, the Fed lowered the fed funds rate by 25bps as expected and signaled a cautious approach to further easing. The auto sector was under pressure, namely BMW (-3.8%), Daimler Truck (-3.4%), Mercedes-Benz (-2.8%), VW (-2.1%). BASF (-4.1%), Deutsche Bank (-3.2%) and Continental (-2.4%) were also lower.
