Financial equities led the rally as investors tracked U.S. policy developments as the President Trump reiterated previous pledges of lower taxes, tariffs, and higher energy output, but refrained from confirming earlier threats of trade barriers against the EU. In France, business confidence declined to a three-month low of 95.3 in January 2025, down from 97 in December and below market expectations of 96. Financial heavyweights including AXA, BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, and Société Générale climbed between 1.1% and 2.3%. Luxury mega-caps and industrial leaders also contributed to the index’s performance.
